Welcome to 2023

Welcome to 2023, a year filled with opportunity, adventure and community.

Like everyone else at the start of 2023 we have been playing with ChatGPT... and it has kindly provided an introduction to the year ahead - please note: these are not my words but the words of a robot - therefore they most likely are not true. Anyway - enjoy.

"Welcome to our blog chronicling a year of bikepacking adventures! Join us as we explore some of the most beautiful and remote places on two wheels, carrying all of our gear on our bikes. From the rugged mountains to the vast deserts, we'll be taking on challenging terrain, camping under the stars, and immersing ourselves in the outdoors. We'll be sharing our experiences, offering tips and tricks for planning your own bikepacking trips, and sharing the gear and bikes we use. So, come along for the ride as we embark on this journey of a lifetime!" - ChatGPT

However good that might sound to you, the real blog has a couple of quick updates to kick the year off and some key dates worth noting down. Please read on to enjoy...

Kiwi Brevet / Brevette - Saturday 4th Feb until Sunday 12th Feb - Blenheim - Anti Clockwise

The Kiwi is scheduled to take off at 8am on Saturday from Seymour Square in Blenheim. Spot tracking collection (and casual dinner) will be at the Dodson St Beer Garden from 5pm on the Friday night.

GPX files and cues will be emailed to all riders before the 28th of January. Registration for riders is here via MAProgress. Routes to be updated there soon.

If you have any questions, please sing out.

Tuatara 1000 / Iti - Saturday 25th Feb until Sunday 5th March - Gore - Clockwise

The Tuatara once again starts in the metropolis of Gore with a 7am start at the Trout Statue. While this is an "off" year, rather low key and unofficial, we still have a few people already keen to toe the line. (Potentially myself included)

Sign up here via MAProgress for your spot tracking and registration. GPX and Cues will be emailed to riders in early February.

If you have any questions, please sing out.

Big Finish Line Party

We have a location, ish, just not a venue. Lock in the week leading up to Saturday 28th of October - more details soon.

Le Petit Brevet

Moves slightly early for 2023 to avoid the regional holiday of Canterbury Anniversary weekend. Lock in the first weekend of November, 4th and 5th. Makes for a great last training ride before Edition Zero Gravel.

Speaking of Edition Zero Gravel - Saturday 25th November sees us yet again in Waimate for a great weekend of adventure, gravel and community. Watch out for some new and exciting features in the 2023 version.

While the courses will not be changing too much, our race village is already well in design - watch this space for a Friday Gravel expo, and a Saturday complete with the best in food and drink to welcome you back to the Velodrome. Did someone mention showers?

In the mean time, look after yourselves, enjoy your riding and we hope to see you out and about on an adventure soon.
