#BFLP 2025 AGM Minutes

The Annual General Meeting of the #BigFinishLineParty was held on Saturday the eighteenth day of the tenth month.

Enjoying the classic West Coast rain, riders convened at Nourish - a rather new offering in a rather old establishment.

Earlier in the day, riders had congregated on the porch at Dawsons to cheer riders in as they arrived back from a myriad of loops. The forecast rain was late - thankfully!

2025 saw the addition of a new rule - #dontbeearly. Nourish played host to a wedding through the day. The wedding was scheduled to end at 5pm. An influx of GoreTex, down and bright colours just prior to 5:30pm (no one actually wanted to be late) made it clear who was there for the #BFLP.

The evening continued well with food being delivered at pace.

The formal aspects of the evening got underway around 7pm. Please read on for the official record of the evening.

  1. Apologies were taken.

M.C. We were sorry you could not join us, but we hope you got to where you needed to be in time. A.C. Your facebook comment about missing out was tabled. Messrs Dr A.H, W.F, and H.D, your absence was noted.

  1. Where are we from?

Rather than simply take a roll call, some people enjoy travelling off the radar, an account was taken as to the extent of the geographic representation present. Recorded as follows...

Southland: Absent

Central Otago: Present

Canterbury: Present

West Coast: Present

Marlborough: Present

Nelson: Present

Tasman: Present

Wellington (Region): Present

USA: Present

  1. Did we have a good week?

Yes, some track maintenance would help but all in all, thankful to be here.

  1. Did we ride the course as proposed?

No, about one third of those present completed the full as designed lap. Refreshing to see that riders understand that there really is only one rule #dontbelate

  1. Flats

Four flats were recorded, all tubeless. B.B mentioned having tubeless sealant was helpful in reducing the need to install a tube.

  1. Mechanicals

One unnamed party mentioned forgetting to bring a 'chain' with them. H.D threw down too many watts and broke a chain before Mauria. M.S. broke a spoke leaving Big River. A front brake lever was rendered in need of replacement. Chain lube does not work as brake fluid, a sample size of one was conclusive in this study.

  1. Navigational Additions

It was reported by many that the entrance to the Big River single track was easy to ride past. Riding the wrong way down a dairy farm race at milking time is not advised.

  1. Location for 2026 - Discussions

A number of healthy suggestions were received that will require some effort to narrow down and confirm. Scouting will be required. A route for 2026 will be provided.

  1. Thanks

Appreciation was provided to the instigator.

  1. Transport

The hosts kindly provided van transport back to accommodation - the rain was significant.

This brought to a close the formal aspects of the evening. Conversation flowed, stories grew, maps were scouted, ideas ideated and fun had. Track condition yarns over a large map with locals saw the evening last well into the night. Reefton is a great place to be.

Thanks again for being here.
